The Hawbridge School – Lower School

Remediation and Enrichment Specialist for Grades K – 7

Position Summary:
•Monitor teachers’ implementation of evidence-based academic and behavior interventions to students identified in the Multi-
Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework
•Observe identified students in the classroom setting and collect observable and measurable data
•Attend and provide relevant professional development to staff as directed
•Serve as the Lower School’s MTSS coach
•Collaborate with the EC Director and teaching staff to prepare for and conduct Tier III review meetings
•Attend MTSS and related meetings as requested and provide measurable data for students in the referral process

Qualifications:
1.A master’s degree in education, social work, psychology or a related field from an accredited program of study is preferred.
2.NC Elementary certification is required. The possession of a national credential or certification as a school social worker
specialist will be considered. NC Elementary and NC Middle School teaching licensure is preferred.
3.Successful experience (5 or more years) teaching and coaching in the elementary classroom is required. Additional experience
teaching middle school students or working with middle school teachers is preferred.
4.Experience implementing Fundations, Guided Reading, Academic and Behavior Core Implementation and related interventions
is desired.

9.Developing easy to read data-based reports for analysis
10.Creating strong relationships, based on trust, with faculty and staff, students, and parents

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
A.Provide direct coaching to faculty/staff and support for the implementation of MTSS
B.Collaborate with the administration and designated teachers to prioritize supports needed throughout the school for MTSS
implementation
C.Collect and analyze student and teacher data to guide data-based decision making and improve direct instruction
D.Conduct Tier III review meetings in partnership with the administration, EC Coordinator, and relevant staff
E.Attend intervention meetings and relevant trainings, as well as school determination meetings as requested
F.Perform a quarterly Tier III audit to confirm that school records for Tier III students match the students being served
G.Participate in the school improvement planning process as needed

Expected Impact:
•Support the school and staff by guiding a successful integration of the MTSS framework
•Accurately identify students “at risk” based on classroom data collection
•An overall improvement in identified students’ academic and behavioral outcomes

Physical Conditions and Nature of Work Environment:
The Remediation and Enrichment Specialist for Grades K – 7 performs most work at the Lower School. The work requires standing and sitting while providing evidence-based interventions, attending meetings, completing reports, and engaging in professional development. Light physical work may require exertion of approximately 20 pounds of force.
