Classroom Teacher 3-5
Department: Sunny View School
Reports To: Principal
Job Summary: To create learning experiences that make subject matter meaningful for students.
Maintain an instructional plan, which is compatible with the NC Standard Course of Study, Sunny View School, and Polk County School curricular goals.
Present lessons that are aligned to the NC Standard Course of Study and provide materials for implementing lessons. Lessons include: review, introduction, presentations, relevant examples, and necessary modification, clear assignments, summarization, and evaluation.
Provide prompt feedback on the correctness or incorrectness of student’s work.
Maintain a high level of student time-on task.
Maintain accurate records to document student performance.
Establish a set of rules and procedures that govern student behavior and administrative matters.
Frequently monitor the behavior of all students during wholeclass, small group, seatwork activities, and during transitions between instructional activities; stop inappropriate behavior promptly and consistently, yet maintain the dignity of the student.
Maintain clear, firm, and reasonable work standards and due dates.
Interact effectively with students, co-workers, parents, and community.
Follow a plan for professional development and demonstrate evidence of growth.
Develop a plan for professsional growth and participate in staff development activities.
Maintain high performance expectations for all students.
Develop and implement PEP’s as needed.
Attend all meetings:

15. Serve as a positive representative of the school in the community.
Education, experience and skills required:
Have or be eligible for NC licensure in Elementary Education.
Previous experience with young children preferred.
Terms of Employment: 10 months – Teacher Salary Scale
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Teachers.
